Childcare
The Danish municipalities offer good public childcare facilities for children aged 0 - 6. Most childcare facilities are institutions such as kindergartens, but there are also local authority schemes for childcare in private homes, especially for children under 3 years. You may contact your local authority for more information about local childcare facilities.
Institutions may be owned by a local authority or they may be independent. However, as regards contents and finance they by and large follow the same principles.
In addition, some local authorities provide financial support for parents who choose private childcare facilities. Finally, to a smaller extent, there are also private childcare facilities that are not subsidised by the local authority.
